I've about had 10 interviews in the last 3 years and every single time, it works out this way- if there was one interviewer I always get asked back for a 2nd, and if there's 2 interviewers I don't. Is it just coincidence or could there be something in it?

It's a lot easier to talk to and empathise with one person than it is with three. Getting three people on your side is more difficult because you are trying to please all of them at the same time but they will all have different ideas about what they like in a person.

Also job interviews with a larger panel tend to be for higher paid jobs which are more difficult to get because of high levels of competition.

I think it is more intimidating to interview with more than one person. When I have gone on interviews... they have been using the group approach... where 3 or 4 people ask you questions... those types of interviews are a lot harder... and a lot more common now.

when you've requested 3 to 4 questions concerning interest specifics, organization way of existence, etc pop this question to the interviewer..."Is there something that I have stated so a ways, which could have solid doubt in you hiring me?". that continuously is a delightful shocker and would earn you factors. I dont imagine there is something incorrect asking about how the present monetary concern is affecting the organization...i trust all employers could be clear to means applicants. in the journey that they are honest & right now with their answer, you could not have the favor to ask the different question on redundancy :-) wish this helps. I've had one interview where I had more than 1 person interview me, and I didn't get it. I also didn't get tons of other interviews with 1 person.

Anyways, I think when there's more people it gives you a disadvantage, because one of them is bound to pick up on your faults, whereas if it's just one person they have no one to talk about you with, so they might go easier on you.

Probably you are scared when there is a larger crowd - also when they ask questions, you get people thinking different asking you various sorts of questions than one person, where your mind after a few questions becomes conditioned and streamlined to the type of questions that person asks. When a lot of people ask questions your mind unknowingly becomes confused and the monotonousness gets disturbed.

Well, it's easier to respond to one person, in terms of eye contact and body language...so it could be that!
It could be worth practising with a couple of friends.
Good luck though.
