Usually you pay only for one connection, but you will need not a simple modem, but a so-called DSL router, which is also kinda cheap. However, it also depends on the policy of the provider. Some allow using routers, but do not provide you with technical support on how to set it up. First of all, you are the customer, so don't hesitate to ask your provider about it.
Hope this helped.

If you have DSL, get rid of Dial-up. Its basically useless in this day and age. You wont need a router unless your connecting more than one computer. In that event, you have the choice of going either wireless or not. Wireless will cost you more since you not only have to purchase a wireless router, but you also have to buy a wireless PCMCIA/USB/etc. card.. for every computer you are connecting.
Wireless also may cause a little more of a headache for novices. For more information, you can probably swing by a Best Buy. They should be able to assist you in your purchase decision.

you don't have to use a router if you have only 1 unit PC, router use only if you have more than one computer...like 4 or more computers and you will pay only for one internet....and depends on what speed or kbps you will use on your PC.
