I presume that you are a student as you posted in Education & Reference > Higher Education (University +) category.
Though small but practical and easy to implement steps are:
1. Finish all other jobs beforehand when you sit to study.
2. Eat optimum preferably solid food on the lessor side.
3. Create amicable environment around your study area - no phone, no TV or outside disturbance.
4. Your study area should be properly ventilated and illuminated.
5. Pick-up the topics from their beginning or already understood points and keep building your knowledge / understanding of the subject in a continuous chain.
6. As and when reach a stable point while studying, and if you have been studying for 3-4 hours continously, take a short break to refresh yourself.
7. Select those reference books which offer easier and systematic process of learning than those which are complex and complicated and get to the point in such a hi-fi way that whole process become waste. No matter even if hi-fi books are authored by very reputed authors - forget them for some time. Have your fundamentals clear by simple approach and then build on understanding those hi-fi books / authors, if necessary.
8. Don't ever get paniced or unduely anxious about issues not resolving for some time, but keep an active tab on the ways and possibilites of resolving them at the earliest opportunity seeking outside help.
By following these a few tips, you can make your studies interesting and once they are interesting, you will never face the problem of loosing concentration on them. Rather you would wish that a day would have had more than 24 hours!!!

This is what helped me when going into university:
I love to read but realized that there would be a volume of material I would need to read in less time.
Not only syllabuses, but textbooks, online blackboard sites, professor e-mails, lists, booklets, articles, white papers, what have you...
So I built up my skimming skills. Opening a chapter that one's about to read, and scanning it. Do this on a daily basis, with ANYTHING. Do this when reading over your notes, during a PowerPoint presentation, when an instructor is lecturing from the book. Increase the time on a daily or weekly basis (this also depends on how your particular mind processes info). Then, when you feel comfortable skimming and retaining even difficult material, you are now ready to begin integrating this into your actual study time.
Believe me, when one has 3 exams in one week, 4 pop quizzes, 3 essays and 2 major reports to finish, this will come VERY MUCH in handy!
Good luck!

Meditate daily at 4. AMto 4.30/5 AM.Sit in alotus position of the floor, can use a mat/soft mattress. Keep yourself in a comfortable position . Concentrate on the heart/ in the point between your eye-brows-whichever you find easier to do.Watch your thoughts .Breathe normal.Once you get to know your thought process, you find out the blocks to your concentration. Take out the blocks by changing the habits which have lead to the blocks. At 6/7PM to 6.30/7.30 PM, sit similarly analysing all your actions during the day.Weed out the bad ones Go on daily tioll the bad ones are weede out. At bedtime, pray "O Lord, let ther be peace for all"
