Leonardo Da Vinci was a real person, a master painter, architect, inventor, scholar, etc. that lived in the era of the Renaissance (from 1452-1519).

His mysterious paintings have had many theories about them. The one used in the book the Da Vinci code, most prominently was the Last Supper, where supposedly Mary Magdelene is present and it reveals some big conspiracy by the church that Jesus and Mary had a child and that the child is really the holy grail.

This is a theory that was actually talked about before and there is some evidence to suggest it may be so.

Here's the big problem. Anyone who might actually know something is dead. If a Priory of Scion does exist and someone is keeping this secret... well it's probably going to stay kept.

The evidence on both sides of the debate about Jesus and Mary Magdelene have great points. And so much of the information is open to interpretation.

The Divinci Code is fiction. Entertainment, that uses history to help spin a good yarn. Divinci was a real person, ever see a copy of the Mona LIsa or the Last Supper, these are his more famous works of art. Leonardo was not apart of any organization or conspiracy cult, he really didn't seem to care much for the church or any of the organizations of his time.

It is WRONGLY assumed (by people like Diegobass13) that it has all been disproved by scholars, however this is a fallacy. Whether or not Da Vinci actually put codes into his paintings is unknown, however it is true that most scholars presume it to be highly unlikely. Whether or not Jesus had a family, nobody knows for sure. Opus Dei is a real organization (a creepy organization, but probably not as depicted in the film) and so are the Freemasons (an even weirder organization). I'm pretty sure that the priory of sion was actually proven to be made up, but not by Dan Brown (but I can't verify that for sure). It may very well be that almost everything in Dan Brown novel rings true, but it is highly unlikely.

The truth behind Devinci is that he lived in a time of religious prosecution. So Divinci in his genus, expressed his religious beliefs in his paintings. What makes Divinci so special, his paintings. Divinci paintings are the best Ever!

The truth behing the Da Vinci code is that it raised some interesting questions about Jesus and the way we view him today.

If the claims are true or not is hard to know, but it is possible.

In regards to Da Vinci as a person, If you have never heard of Leonardo da Vinci you need to go do some reading, he was an amazing inventor and paintre and we owe him a lot, he was before his time in many ways.

Yes, he is a real person.. his name is Leonardo de la Rucci..... he is know for inventing and having genius theories .....he was also a very famous painter......... he became famous for his painting in Divinci ... that's why he is known as leonardo divinci....... and the whole code........i guess it's on what you believe personally...... Do you think jesus was a mortal Jewish man who was able to have kids or do you see him as our god and savior??? Personally it's nice to have faith in religion but it's also nice to acknowledge that books where written by man and as we all know men do lie whether it is nowadays or centuries ago! personally i see divinci has a man who wanted more!

Leonardo was an artist/inventor/genius. He came from (da) a town near Vinci, located in Tuscany, in what we now call Italy. Two of his best known paintings are Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.

Truth behind "The Da Vinci Code"...that's a best selling novel written by Dan Brown based on a conspiracy theory.
Dan Brown likes to pretend it is true.

It's all BS. DaVinci (not Divinci) was Leonardo DaVinci. Check him out HERE - he was a genius.

http://www.mos.org/leonardo/
http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/vinci/

The DaVinci code is total BS. Every "fact" in the movie has been proven false. There was no "code" in DaVinci's work. He was not a member of a secret society. He did not have secret knowledge regarding descendants of Jesus. Jesus had no descendants. Opus Dei is not some murderous secret society. etc. etc. etc.

One more time so we can be sure EVERYONE gets it:

DAVINCI CODE IS TOTAL BS.

Leonardo Da Vinci was a painter and Dan Brown, the author of the Davinci Code has brought to light that many societies think that there are hidden messages in his paintings which suggest that Mary Magdalene bore Jesus' child and that descendants of Jesus live today.

If you read all of the book which includes all the pages at the beginning, Dan Brown stated the book is fictitious. Then in the first chapter he says this is fact.

My understanding of the English language says that because he said everything in this book is fictitious first then it is. Also because it is not part of the story as the fact part, leads me to believe it is a fictitious story
