honey relax this is just a standard test now days. If you are afraid it will be positive the sooner you know the better chance they have to save your baby. I think they even have a shot now that can keep the baby from having hiv from the mother. So just think positively, take the test bravely and wait for the results. then if you are positive email me and i will help you decide the next thing to do. good luck.

yes, I am thinking you are a responsible person since you are getting pre-natal care. That is sooo important. The doctors often want this test out of the way so they know for sure hiv will not be a complication for you and the baby. They also have new medicine they can give the mother who tests positive to help prevent passing the hiv to the infant if you were to come back positive. Also they have life sustaining tx. for the mother as well that can put hiv into remission so if you did have it and treat it early your life just got longer, hopefully enought to raise your child free from hiv. That is why early detection is so important. All people whether they have had sex once with anyone in the world is possible they could have been infected?? So it is good to be sure for yourself and your unborn child. All of us who have taken the test were afraid, but it is part of being a responsible parent to take care of ourselves and if need be our unborn child..Best of wishes and stay strong...thats a start of a great mother-child relationship caring and taking action to make certain your child is best cared for...god bless melissa

HIV test is one scary thing to do, but you have to do it, if you want to know how to raise your child. It don't mean that if you're HIV positive, that it is the end of the world, there are people that lives with the virus, and they are healthy like any one. Do you have a reason why you're afraid of taking the test. I do a test every end of the end, just to begin the new year feeling that I'm still healthy and virus free. Take care of yourself, and take the test. When I took my first test, I as so scared, but after that, the feeling you get when you know that you're negative, is priceless. And if you don't get thet result that you are hoping for, don't think that you'er going to die, just change your lifestyle. Look after yourself, eat healthy food and exercise, because if you can control it in your head, you'll be able to control the entire situation. I saw a guy on Tv that lives with the virus for the past 20 years, he's a South African and he helps people that are HIV positive to have a positive feeling towards life.
Girl, do it, its better to know, then not to know. I'm from Namibia, and in Africa, you see HIV and Aids every single day, I know that you can do it.

It is standard to be tested for HIV when you are pregnant. YOu might be scared of the results, but knowledge is power.
If mothers are HIV positive, there is usually no reason for their babies to get the virus. The medical staff will take extra precautions during pregnancy and delivery to reduce the risk of the baby becoming infected.
There is nothing you can do to change your HIV status regardless of if you know the results or not. But you can protect your baby.

HIV testing in pregnant women is completely normal. Every woman who is expecting a baby is made to have an HIV test plus all the usual test. Your doc is not trying to tell you something you should fear.
This test became common practice at least 15 years ago all over the world, so don't worry, you know where you have been.....

Let's put it this way, it is not personal. In the US & Canada the doc have to ask your permission, but in other country such France no permission needed it is just like the other test
anyway it will be best to know if not for you but for the baby
you know you can always say no, no one can force you to do it
but it will be best for the baby if you know, that way step can be taken to ensure that the baby is healthy
Look my best friend find out that she was HIV when she was preg that was 15 years ago; she is still alive (she has her ups and downs) but her son is a healthy 14 1/2 year old because the doc know of her problem he was able to take the proper step for the
baby
Good Luck
you are in my prayer

Yes, take the test. It's very appropriate for you and your baby's sake. If you are HIV, don't panic, you and your baby will be fine. trust me, I went through this fear. I wasn't HIV, but I feared it. I hope your doctor is one who you feel comfortable with. If not, find one soon! A loving, supportive doctor is always essential and comforting to have!
Take the test! reguardless of the results, you and your baby will be just fine! Doctors will take good care of both of you. The doctors are taking precautions for the health and sake for both of you!
Many prayers go out to you! and Good Luck
oh, CONGRATULATIONS, by the way! YAY! Im so happy for you!

Take the test. Unfortunately it is scary but it is in the best interest of the baby. With some STD's the baby can be infected while traveling through the birth contol and if the child is born C-section the baby will be clear of the disease.
Even though the test scares you.... do for the little bundle of love growing inside of you... they deserve it!!!!

Do it not only for your you, but your baby. I think everyone gets scared about the results of an HIV test. After all is said and done though, you know that you and your baby are healthy. Good luck on the baby and congrats!

EVERY pregnant woman has these tests. They are routine.
Why would you fear the results? Not unless you could be HIV Positive!
JUST take the test! FOR every ones piece of mind - YOURS, YOUR DOCTOR AND THE STAFF!
