I and my 24-year old girlfriend were in restaurant. She was chewing a gum. She told me that to swallow a chewing gum isn't dangerous at all because it goes in her stomach and then comes out and laughed. Then she took her chewing gum back to her throat and made a gulp and swallowed her chewing gum. The gum slided down her throat and was gone . . . She told me that she swallowed her gum whole, it was in her stomach and couldn't feel anymore. She laughed and said that the chewing gum is in her tumy now. She told me not to worry about it and added that she likes to swallow cherry pits and sometimes when she is on a lazy mood and don't want to take a cherry pit out she simply swallows it and sends to her stomach so there is no need to find a place for a cherry pit . . . She even don't have a stomachache . . .What will happen to the chewing gum or the cherry pit in my girlfriend's stomach?

Swallowing chewing gum is harmless. As far as I know it causes no side effects because even I've done so many times.

Cherry stones, like a lot of such seeds, have evolved to be indigestible to stomach acids. That stone will just pass harmlessly through her, and come out when she passes solid wastes.

The same goes for chewing gum - it is an inert substance, which the body won't digest, and it will eventually come out of the body in bodily wastes.

I've swallowed gum and acidentally eaten the stones and seeds of cherries, raisins, apples - and there have never been any ill effects to me.

So you've no need to worry about your girlfriend's health from eating cherry stones or chewing gum.

Or your own.

it takes a while for the stomac acid to dissolve chewing gum but the long term problem may be constipation. Cherry pits will be passed naturally

you could not worry about her swallowing gum or seeds, human beings can actual swallow a good purchase of further strange issues and bypass them. i have heard of persons swallow something from pennies to wedding ceremony rings and purely passing them (you could flow to the well being care service in case you relish swallowing metallic even with the undeniable fact that) I bear in mind even as i became a baby different newborn used to say that the gum would stick with my heart and finally keep it from beating. LOL Now that i'm older and characteristic a extra constructive understanding of the digestive equipment i understand this is not available and something you swallow which could not be digested....properly lets purely say it like this......what is going in, could come out.
