I know what the word conservative means people, I was asking why they think "change" is so bad.

well it's not that they fear change as that, but they fear a change in the status-quo, which could lead to their loss of say or/and power. as a result conservatives stick with their conservative views, not because they want to keep changes away, but in order to keep the benefits they have from diminishing.

Who said conservatives fear change? Know you not the meaning of the word conserve?
Conserve means to keep not change! So if a conservative changes they will need a new name! were you just asking about conservatives in general or conservative party?
Most conservatives are comfortable as things are they aren't afraid of change they just don't desire it!

Because they are conservative. That's what conservative means. To not like change, or to go tentatively towards it.

typically they don't like it but who cares I'm a middle road independent when I vote they throw it away right in front of me just can't get representation . why do u think even with the onslaught of the Internet we don't have some form of referendum vote for the proletariat.. power corrupts and hogwash makes a poor detergent

we don't...we have been changing many things for liberals over the past century...but liberals always want more...we have been loosing our rights so you can gain yours...when will liberals stop demanding more...are liberals afraid of consistency?
