Seven. Why? I have no idea. Just arbitrary. But no more than seven. I cannot emphasize this enough. Excessive question markage makes God cry. Shame on all of you people, answering with lots of question marks, like you think you're clever. God is crying over your lack of creativity and originality, as well.

Here is a helpful chart

? = I have a question

?? = I have a question which is confusing me muchly

??? = I have a question the ugency of which is equal to that of the time I drank a gallon of water and the bathroom door got stuck.

???? = Everything confuses me. What I am asking simply confuses me more.

????? = I have a question, please dumb down your answer, as I have special needs, and must wear a helmet so as not to fracture my skull every time I go to tie my shoes

?????? = Consider yourself lucky if my question was not accompanied by at least two pints of drool.

??????? = Please answer quickly, as I have wet myself three times in the course of asking.

????????+ = I worship Satan and kill kittens.

So as we can clearly see, any more than 7 question marks is quite unacceptable. Unless you like killing kittens. You don't like killing kittens, do you?

Any number of questionmarks bigger than one is too many. All those questionmarks serve the same purpose as one. So they're really a waste of time and space.

No.. he's a "sound byte" in todays information, yet, would be forgotten till the "next tragedy" comes up, then like him and the Oaklahoma Bombings and the different awful tragedy, each and every would be reported in thier own perspective to mirror on the present one that is occurring interior the "now" zone. I desire you nicely... Jesse

i think one has to take the emotional condition of the reader and the situation in which the whole question is put...for example...if u some on hurt u so much...then u cant respond...with - WHAT????????????...here any number of question marks are allowed and the minimum should be five..but for a normal conversation just one will do or atmost two...making it more that two mite emotionally attack the reader...

Generally more than one. Occasionally there's call for two or three. More than that just looks ignorant and pathetic.

Two. Two exclamation points, also too many. If you need to use periods to indicate a continued thought... use three.
