"Pinch and a Punch its the end of the month". Said or probably screamed while you pinch and punch your brother or sister at some point on the last day of the month. But you must be first. Second does not count.
In the morning, ie the first day of the new month, you have to be first to say "White Rabbits" and that should bring you luck. Second does not count.
Its a family kids thing, or it was in our house, and great fun. I don't think I could ever remember to do both. If you were on the receiving end of the pinch and punch you were likely to be the first to remember the "white rabbits" bit.
Sounds daft if you didn't grow up with it, I'm sure.

Have always said White Rabbits x 3 on the 1st day of every month, my mam told me years ago it was for a lucky month and it's to be the first thing that you say. I've even passed it onto others and now they're doing it, so there are now a few of us who do it and don't really know why! lol

Supposedly if you say White Rabbits first thing in the morning on the 1st day of the month (any month) then you are protected from the "Pinch, punch first of the month" thing. You just say White Rabbits to people who try it.

We used to just say Rabbits, on the morning of the 1st of each month, except March when we said March Hares. It's to stop someone from doing the pinch punch first of the month thing.

superstitious twaddle, a bit like rabbits feet, other so-called "lucky charms" (no, not the cereal) and christianity. They believe their life will be better if they say "White Rabbits" first thing in the morning on the 1st of the month, and infinitely worse if they don't....

as kids we used to say White rabbit on the first day of each month..to stop the nip & a punch for the first of the month...a nip and a kick for being so quick...a punch in the eye for being so sly..all ending with no returns back...never seem to hear of it now though
