yesterday i woke up and had a bit of a bloodshot eye,it was ok but when i got up this morning,one side of my eye is pure red and horrible looking!! i don`t drink and haven`t banged or scratched it.i know it is a bit of a daft question but what could be causing this??

There could be a variety of causes. If you go into Boots or any other good chemist you can get Clear Eyes, specially designed eyes drops to prevent infection and soothe red/dry eyes. That's what I use after a good smoke up lol!

I know a few people who get this regularly. It's a burst blood vessel, and it should be completely harmless and disappear in a few days. Interestingly, the people I know who get this suffer from migraines or take regular medication. If you're worried, go and see your GP. I don't think an eye wash will make any difference. If it was a foreign object you would be in pain too.

Nicola, my eyes always look bloodshot, the optician said its the tiny blood vessels that are a little bigger than normal.
But if yours has just started doing it go to an optician just to be on the safe side.

Sometimes you get a bloodshot eye for no reason its wear the blood vessel has burst,leave alone it will go in a wk or so.

Sounds like something has blown into it and you have an irritation, go see your doctor, who will probably wash it out with distilled water. You might be prescribed a mild painkiller and antibiotics and will probably get an eyepatch for a couple of days, nothing to worry about.

Buster Bloodvessel is in I think. Have you been doing bongs? They cause pressure to build up and thats why some stoners
(not saying you are!!) get red eye. Or are you constipated. You must have strained for something for your eye to be red. But fear not - it will heal.
If you're concerned go to see the doctor.

I have a bloodshot eye all the time maybe, your under the weather, or have an infection you don't know about.

It could be an irritant has got in.
Unfortunately a scratch could be minute and only show up with a disclosing fluid.

You might have rubbed it too hard, the blood vessels in your eye are quite delicate, even having sex can burst them, so it you had quite a rigorous session i the sack that might explain it.
