Not so much anymore but when they were created it was meant to bring nations together by a common theme. To make a statement of unity. Thats why the symbol for the olympics is the 5 interlocked rings

To connect different races, countries, genders together.. even without understanding much of each other's languages. Everyone is there for a reason that all can understand.. the same love/passion for sports.
