I live in Stratford Upon Avon, so it's local to me... Been a few times.

If you go in the summer these are the types of events:

Jousting (good)
Fighting Knights (not bad)
Archery (not bad)
Birds of prey show (good)
Museum (good)
Trebuchet (good)

All shows are based on fun and providning information - my son (8 yrs) really enjoyed it.... He loves history and the knights etc etc.

There are a few stalls but it's easy to spend money - especially if you've got kids!

The grounds are very impressive - well kept... There is a great wall to walk around and a very talk tower to walk up - great views but not so great if you don't like heights! (so my hubbie tells me)

I'd say it's worth a visit but it really does depend on what sort of things you like. I think it's one of the best castles to visit as there is a lot going on and it's so well preserved.

I did like Warwick caslte BUT it is not worth the high price they charge since the Tussauds group took it over.
There are SO many really good Castles in Wales at half the price or less. so. pay more for petrol see another castle cheaper.

Its a choice.

I certainly think so. I loved the gardens, especially the peacock garden, where the peacocks spread their magnificent tails in full finery. The dungeons are really well restored. The rooms are laid out with Tussauds panoramas of the people in period dress, including many of the famous who visited there, engaged in acitivities that they might have done when they were alive. Everything is very fun as well as educational. Check out

It is a really good day out. Lots to see and do. however, it is very touristy and commercialised. Can get a bit annoying fighting the crowds. Also the food and drink etc is seriously over priced.

I really enjoyed it, even though I went on a really cold and windy and rainy day and could not enjoy the gardens. I would go again on a summers day.

They have lot's of venues : birds of prey,a bit of fighting somewhere. There's a 'haunted' room in there as well.
It's worth the entry fee!
