your main concern should be memory and video card if you decide to improve multitasking. if you game then your major concern is video card and memory.
If you opt to dual channel you can with ddr 333. but since you already have a stick running at ddr 266 purchase the same exact stick of memory.
your motherboard is able to run sata but not sata 2. you will just waste your money on a new drives.

First, check your MB whether can support SATA2 hard disk.
No point to switch to SATA2 if your MB does not support it, or maybe u can upgrade from 40GB to 120GB as now the price has fallen over the years.
Second, check if your MB can support other type of RAM.
If can support DDR 333/400, can consider change to the other type, if not can consider change the MB or just upgrade to DDR266 PC2100 1.5GB RAM.
Third, if this computer is use for gaming, u might need to add a graphic card with 256mb or above.

I don't think your motherboard can support SATA so no point buying a new SATA hard disk. Increasing your RAM will certainly help but it depends on whether your motherboard still got free RAM slots. I think you should also get a new graphics card.
If you want a significant speed improvement, its time to buy a new computer ... processor, motherboard, ram, graphics card all should be upgraded.

If you are playing games the thing you will want to upgrade your video card, if you just want your pc to go faster, then upgrade your ram, try and see if your pc will take a higher ram with a faster fsb, and also check to see if you can run in dual channel as this will double your fsb, example i run ddr2 with a 667 fsb, but in dual channel the fsb is 1300, both ram sticks must be identical in order to run dual channel

that's fairly promptly forward. Realistically, it is so basic as replacing RAM, purely, you could desire to disable the onboard (or yet another photographs card you have) photographs card on your computing device for it to artwork. a million. setting up your photographs card (Too long, nonetheless another web content assist you to appreciate ;)) 2. Boot up your computing device, (Your previous or onboard photographs card will probable nevertheless be energetic). 2. while a window field pops up, setting up drivers from the CD or manufacturers internet site, 3. Restart, enter the BIOS (while it says "Press ____ to pass into the BIOS, or some thing comparable, (in many situations Ctrl+Alt+Del)) 4. If it has no longer executed so already, DISABLE YOUR previous (Or onboard) photographs CARD!!! or you will finally end up in some important conflict with your photographs card. i think of thats approximately it for setting up it... Dont quote me on that nonetheless. Oh, and your final remark, almost any cutting-part photographs card (regardless of if that's integrated! Will help DVD playback. (One final element. Get a PCI photographs card, no longer an AGP one.

Yep.. but you cant do that on your currect pc spec.
You will need to get a new motherboard which support SATA 2.
If you can then sell your current and then just buy a new PC powered by AMD... They are currently the best.
Thnx.

That depends on what you mean by speed, it wont increase your internet browsing speed, it will increase gaming and application speed if you are a person who runs everything at once!
