There is a good book you can buy about this. Its called Mobbing in the workplace. I can't remember who it is by but search Amazon.com and you will find it. I learned a lot from that book. Mobbing happens almost everywhere you go. It's called working the corporate game. It's not easy to do and involves being sneaky sometimes. Unfortunately I try to work as an honest/intelligent individual and that's probably why Im a victim of it too. No one can stand anything worse than someone they are threatened by and will try like the dickens to oust you out.
