Adding a site to all the search engines is easy because they have bots spidering the web following links. So all you have to do is obtain some links pointing to your site http://www.seo-blog.com/directory-links.php

Submitting your site to search engines is a waste of time and effort because you need the links anyway to rank in a high position.

Of course you have to do lots of other things as well if you want your site to be successful http://www.seo-blog.com/tutorial.php

There are a number of ways in which new web sites get added to the indexes compiled by different search engines. Depending on where your web site is hosted, you may not have to do anything to gain a presence on various search engines. If your site is hosted by one of the free hosts, like Geocities, it will be autumatically indexed and added to the search engines the next time their bots come a-crawling. If you are paying for hosting services, it is very likely that your host has a site submission wizard you can use to submit your primary URL. You should use your host's system if it is available.

If you find that you need to submit your site manually to various search engines, then go to the big three and find the site submission link for each one. These links are usually among the extras at the search engines main page. It is not necessary to go beyond the big three. Once your site has been added to the index at Yahoo and the others, it will also be indexed by smaller search engines, in time.

Time is an issue regarding a site's complete indexing on search engines. You must be patient. It could take several weeks for your site to be crawled by the engine's bots, even after you have submitted the site URL. It just takes a while for each search engine to get to every new site on the Net. It's a big Net, after all.

While you are being patient there are several things you need to do within your site to insure that you get the most thorough indexing that the search engines can offer. Make sure that each page within your site has a clear, cogent and relevant TITLE and DESCRIPTION. This is critically important to insure proper indexing. You should also insure that all images displayed within your site have completed tags and tags. These tags provide additional text within the page code that the crawling bots love to wander through.<br /> <br /> So --<br /> 1. Check with your host to use its submission system.<br /> 2. Complete the TITLE and DESCRIPTION for every page and the image <alt> and image <title> tags for every image.<br /> 3) Have patience. It just takes a while, so hang in there. </p> <p> <small> 2006-08-30 21:13:35 · <a href="#answer20060830211335">answer #2</a> · <span>answered by <u>BabyDave</u> <b>1</b></span> · <span>0<span style='color:green;'>⤊</span></span> <span>0<span style='color:red;'>⤋</span></span> </small> </p> </div> <div id="answer20160317050542" class='answer' > <!-- <b>Answer #3</b> --> <p class='answer-content' lang="en"> Usually the host has an option in their control panel to add your site and keywords to many different search engines.
