A person using an alias is sending a friend of mine threatening emails. I want to find out who it is and where they're located for her. How can I do this using email header information?

This sender has been reported to the FBI and other law enforcement. No help there. My friend's lawyer said he will file a civil suit if we find out who it is. There is a way to do it...hackers do it all the time too, but I guess it's just not common knowledge. It's not illegal to find out who is emailing you.

Contact your local Police Department. They will be able to track the person through the IP address.
Good luck!
UPDATE:
This looks like it's a Hotmail account that was set up 12/8/05 and the user is in San Francisco not too far from Golden Gate Park. http://www.trustedsource.org/query.php?q=65.54.246.142
Here's the suggested map. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=37.775+N,+122.419+W&spn=30,80&iwloc=A&hl=en

Threats are seldom considered serious or looked into by law officials. They always say that a crime was not committed! (They need an attack or a person killed first.)
So, you are not likely to find out unless the lawyer can get a judge to have the name revealed by going through your Internet Provider and tracking the ID backwards. If the person used a library or other public sign on then the chances of catching the person is very slim.
Your friend should realize it may be a past friend that is now an enemy. The threats are not likely to go any further they just mean to scare people.
Your friend should change their email address right away.
You should edit their name out of your question. It only invites copy-cat idiots to do the same thing.

First off, you may wanna edit your question and remove your friends email address from the header.
Looks like the mail is coming from a prodigy.net user.
If she is receiving emails threatening physical harm, I would recommend contacting your local FBI office and file a report with them.

Document (save) all threats, and report this to the police. They can located actual addresses through their IP address. Note: they can really do nothing, if they are sent via a "Internet cafe" or library.

Do NOT do anything. They will hunt you down and take vengeance.
All the details are spoofed (the email address where it came from and the servers).

You can't without a court order (all you can get is the ISP) & they will do nothing for you without one other then to say block all mail but from friends.
