If you're talking about buying a music player, go to an auction site or browse product comparison websites and look for the best deal.

If you're talking about in general, decrease spending on wants in exchange for spending money on your absolute needs. If you have credit card bills, pay more than the minimum payment to save on finance charges.

Buy only the things you need. In other words, cut out most luxury items.
Save a little cash and some change in a jar at home. You will be amazed at how quickly it adds up.
Open a savings account at your local credit union. They usually pay higher interest than banks.
When you have enough saved, put your money ina CD at the credit union.
Make a budget and stick to it.
Good luck!

Make a certain amount of each check the amount that you will not spend each week - and put that into savings and do not use it - make a budget to see what your living expenses cost and to see what it left and go from there. See if you are spending too much on things that you don't need and see what you can cut back on if anything.

buy cheaper brands, turn water heater off, only use the washing machine if you have a full load and wash at night on cheaper electric, dont buy anything unless you really cant do woth out it ,with out knowing ur life style its hard to say, share a car or petrol when ever you can ,work out you incoming money and out going bills and give yourself an allowance and a saving amount ,transfer ur saving amount to another account and dont touch it ,class it as money spent, use ur allowance only and remember once you have spent it there is no more till next pay day ,never use shop or credit cards always use cash and pay as you go,always check out the charrity shops as some real bargins can be found and you could save lots.
grow ur own veg if you can ,make ur own pies, always make sure you watch the dates on food so u ge to use it instead of throwing it away cos you forgot about it.
cut out treats like sweets and pastries, cut down smoking, grab any overtime going at work,if you have pets see if there is natural food they can eat from ur garden ,turn the heat down in winter,as too hot a house can bread germs ,you will get ill ,and pay a big bill too,so by turning the heat down is better all round ,we have a temperatur gauge in our house and i use that to get the correct heat for the family ,it keeps us healthier through the winter months,go to the shops just before they close and see what things have been reduced in price, never just throw things away ,see if you can sell them first.
look in the papers and see what things people are offering to give away free, you may find something you need,
if you have a roast chicken one day ,pick the bones clean to have chicken curry the next day,
make sure your taps are turned off properly as a dripping tap will go on to ur water bill.
have a shower and not a bath as u will use less water.
cut down buying cleaning products as washing up liquid will clean most things better and saftly ,including the bath and toilet ect,
cheap bleach works just as well as exspensive brands ,and get rid of most stains,
its just a matter of thinking as you go ,if you are using a lot of something ask yourself is there a cheaper way to do this, probablt yes there is ,because i have asthma i never use spray polish i fill a bowl with warm water and a drop of washing up liquid ,use a soft cloth and ddamp wipe everything ,it stops dust going back into the air and cleans any sticky marks at the same time ,to clean drains i never use chemicals i just boil the kettle and use a old srubbing brush and yes you quessed washing up liquid .
always stop before you buy and think ,you will surprise ur self,im sure ,anyway i hope ive been of some help, and good luck saving your money ,after all my mum was right it dont grow on trees hehe.
