Maybe yes...but I have no statistics to show for it ....but it also depends on the type of audience or individual you are talking to. It also depends how patient you are in reading and re-reading what you have typed. Although those who are conscious of their grammar and how they use it will be a reflection of who they are. -yunesa@yahoo.com

I don't think we'll fail because of stupidity, I think laziness is going to be what spells the end for our country. Our youth have a deplorable work ethic, and courtesy is as long lost as chivalry. But the failure to click the spell check button is really such a non-task that not using it is an indicator of what will come.

I have some problems with this since I post a lot and speak many languages so sometimes I make errors such as writing rime for rhyme since the first is easier and I like it better but many people should make more effort to write well.

But I should say that since I teach writing, I would rather see students try to communicate and make errors than to write very little out of fear of errors. Just my opinion.

Absolutely! Anyone agree on this topic is encouraged to check out a book called Eats, Shoots, and Leaves. The author, Lynne Truss, also writes another HILARIOUS book about the breakdown of politeness and manners on a global level. That book is called Talk To The Hand. They are both easy readers and funny as all hell! yep.

It appears so, and extends to spelling as well ... I'm glad you said that ALMOST our whole society has deplorable grammar. There are still some of us for whom it matters.

our generation also just dropped with the SAT scores. They are now lower then ever before. It's pathetic, life needs to change and we need teachers to be like they were before. I believe teachers need to be able to hit students again when something is dumb. Not to mention all these children with ADD and ADHD, its pathetic, not this many people need ritalin and aderol, whats wrong with some real direction. Come on now.
