What kind of social structure did the Neanderthal have? Were they patriarchal with a 'big man' who was the only one to reproduce, like chimps. Were they matriarchal with equal reproductive access like bonobos? Any number of combinations. Just make something up.

well, the sexual dimorphism is not so significant between the males and females, that usually implies that there was not high competition for access to mates...

there is evidence of an elderly neandertal man who had severe, crippling injuries, but they had healed over... this means that members of his group cared for him... i would think that this strong emotional bond might imply monogamy, or at least long-term reproductive relationships...
