How do you know it is low if you do not know where to add the fluid?
You check it and add fluid in the same hole.
The Dipstick tube or the plug on the side of the transmission housing if it is a Manual.
You never stated what style tranny you have.

Pull the transmission dipstick out, and pour the fluid down the tube. Make sure the engine is running while doing this. And before checking the fluid level after you add some, shift through a couple of gears first. This will allow the fluid to be pulled into the transmission and you will get a more accurate reading.

if you do need to add you put it in the dipstick tube. It is located in back of the air filter on the passenger side. There is a part on the air filter that comes off so you can get to it easier. It is the part where the air flows into the filter it has 2 plastic clips that you push in and the piece will come off and then you can see the dipstick.

It should go in the same tube you found the dipstick in (and knowing fords), its usually at the back of the engine, by the firewall.
