Now even though Bette Midler did a very good reminiscing of it in the 1993 movie Hocus Pocus and so did the Creedance Clearwater Revival the only singer who can be credited for starting this bewitched song is Screamin Jay Hawkins back in the 50's (did you know that this song was banned?) you can hear CCR' version of the song in the 2nd link below, you can read why it was banned in link #1 I accidentally clicked off your question the first time but wanted you to know the answer so bad I answered it again, so I Hope this helped, BlueSueder

I think it was Screamin Jay Hawkins. I know thats the song he is best known for. Creedence Clearwater Revival did a make of the song in the 60's. It's on the greatest hits, and the one by Hawkins is on a greatest hits also, I have both!
