Saudis are ruled by kings and not elected presidents. Is it because saudis are american puppets? The saudis are intolerant of any other religion, cast, culture and mis-treat foreigners who are employed there. Why force other middle east countries into democracy when the main player in the region is a dictatership? Why double standards? saudis are the main financiers of wars in the region from behind the scenes. Americans with all there sofisticated intelligence network must surely know this? It is known fact that they finance groups labelled as terrorist organisations. So why is nothing being done about this? They are definately not a moderate islamic nation because they follow none of the islamic principles.

Are you saying we should invade and occupy Saudi Arabia? There is no way to "force" a country to become a democracy. What makes you think Saudi Arabia as a democracy would be a better place? Look at what's going on in Iraq. The reason we don't destabilize Saudi Arabia has to do with oil. We can't be taking down all the governments who supply our oil.

The United States depends on Saudi Arabia for oil. Thus, its interests are best protected by the stability of the country.

And the United States weilds considerable influence over the present government. Former President Bush is actually on the Saudi government's payroll, as an advisor.

Because we don't force things like that on any country. We removed Saddam because our intel told us he had WMD. We also knew he was supplying terrs with weapons and a place from which to operate.

We have bases in Saudi; we use them to keep our eyes on the other hostiles in the region. The Saudis want us there to protect them from villians who would topple the Family and subsequently divert the oil money to terrorism. It's a sticky alliance, but we do what we have to do to keep our hand in the game over there.

The Americans will support anyone who go along with their agenda, even dictators. I think it's the other way around. I think the Americans are the puppets, not the Saudies.

If I may surmise, it's much easier to control and manipulate a puppet regime than one that is a genuine democracy. How can US control oil policy in a proper democracy. And how can the US not control the oil when rulers need it to remain in power?

Since the Saudis are not threatening us, we have no cause to do anything about their government. It's up to their people.
