I am sorry for your loss.
Be sure that its really dead.
Alcohol will work fine. I knew a girl whose father put the turtle for a couple of days. Retreived it and made a pendant from it by putting a chain through the eyes. This only and illustration I do not recommend the jewlery idea.
After the turtle corpse has been removed let it dry fo a few days. Cocao butter or olive oil will make it supple & shinny.

Depends on how long you'd like to conserve it. Short term, stick it in the freezer. Long term, several options: simple rubbing alcohol in a big jar or something similar, taxidermy, or formaldine(though I would suggest against that. Horrible to deal with, bad smell.)

For a short time, freeze it.
For longer storage, formaldahyde is best, but rubbing alcohol will be OK- but it will leech out the color over time.
You can save the shell by getting rid of the 'meat' by boiling, letting ants eat it, etc. Details can be found on-line in a lot of places.

Formaldehyde.
You can also bury it in the soil for a few months then dig it back up to preserve the shell. (shell only)

formalin is very bad smell and its not suitable but I think if you insert it in an alcohol bottle and close it's door it save for a long time and white alcohol is best.

Why?
For a short time you can put him in your freezer.
If you want to keep him long term, I suggest going to a taxidermist.

Formaldehyde. Works like a charm. At least...I think it does anyway. Call your morgue and ask them, their dying to talk to you. Oh gosh...I couldn't resist. I must be getting really tired. I'm so sorry.
