Well, it depends on your learning style, to begin with. Find that out, and then work from there. For example, if you're a visual learner, then make up flash cards with pertinent info on them, and study them until you learn them. Personally, I'm more of a spacial, listening learner, so I get things down best when I'm able to have a hands-on approach. Either that, or I like listening to lectures. Since I can't always do that, I'll read my texts aloud when studying, and sometimes I'll copy what I need to know down in a notebook. The physical act of writing it out helps quite a bit.

And make sure you're rested and taking care of yourself while studying. Pulling all-nighters doesn't' do anyone any good. Sure, it might work in the short-term, but not much else.

Good luck!

I took psychology..I found for me the best way was to say what i was studying out loud and hear and think about what i was saying. I also would put my notes on tape and while i slept i would listen to them while i had my notes up under my pillow. I know a little weird but I got an A in psychology. I hope this helps :)

I have always found anagrams work well. A perfect example is the great lakes HOMES (Huron Ontario Michigan Erie Superior). If you are trying to memorize a group, form them into a word and repeat it to yourself several times during the day. That way if you get to the test and can't remember one, at least you know what letter it starts with.

Study the lines of what you're studying to one of your favorite songs. For some reason people can pick up lyrics to a song faster than they can remember something that they just read 5 minutes ago.

depends on how you learn the best. if you learn by writing things down over and over, of reading over and over etc. do what it takes. personally when i need to memorize something i think of funny things to make me remember, or a song...for anatomy fine tune the "the thy bone's connected to the hip bone, the hip bone's connected to the....." song. make it more like the "the femur is connected to the..." etc. maybe that will help. good luck!

btw. i read somewhere once that the average human has to hear or read something 6 times before it is retained to memory.

i do excactly what horseysue does except, i do it at nighttime that night before the day that i have to know it all that way it will still be in my mind just like dreams....if you think about something at night and have a dream about it then you will wake up thinking that you are having "de ja vu".
and you will memorize most of it (hope so it worked for me)
