Also 4x4 if it's relative. Sometimes I put it in reverse and it takes perhaps a second for it to kick in and when it does, it's a little jarring. Is it the flywheel in the tranny or am I completely wrong? I'm just taking an unexperienced guess. Thanks.

You may be having transmission oil and filter problems. When the transmission filter gets cluttered with all kinds of dirt, your tranny will slip, especially in reverse. Sometimes it makes an annoying noise.

Most likely you won't need to do anything else after doing the tranny oil and filter.

Please, keep me posted and good luck!

I just asked a question about my 93 Dodge truck, it's an automatic 4x4 as well. It hesitates a bit going into reverse too, if that helps. It may be a quirk of the machine, but don't quote me. Mine has a slight leak, just a seal. The more I've driven it, the better the tranny is getting, smoother, etc.

I believe your tranny filter is plugged up.
