Boilermaker - I am retired out now.
Yes I loved it. I really enjoyed building things especially being that it was heavy steel construction. I did mechanical work, rigging and lifting, fitting, welding, torch cutting, plasma cutting, grinding and fitting.
We made the boilers. Some were 85 feet tall and some were only 6 feet tall.
I worked in all aspects of the boilermaker trade. It was a great job with some of the best guys. Crazy as could be but they were great guys none the less. (Just don't piss them off)
It was very dangerous, very hard, very dirty, you got cuts, scrapes, burns, and bruised. Those were the good days.
In the last two years we had 5 people killed from the job.
Those were the bad days.
At times you had to wear respirators and special suits, sometimes you had to have an air hose to your suit to breath.
I was in all types of refineries, chemical plants, Power plants, that used coal, oil, gas, trash, and yes nuclear for fuel.
There was A LOT of walking high steel and a lot of really tight cramped spaces. The parts that we put together were so heavy that you could be crushed in a second if the crane operator or the signal man made a mistake.
It was bitter cold in the winter and blistering hot in the summer.
We usually worked 6 days a week 10 to 12 hours a day and the jobs were up to two hours away from my home.
When you finished a job you were layed off till the next job came around.
You had to take the good with the bad and make the best of it.
But I can go all over and show people the things that I built and what I went through to do it and take pride in them.
Jerry

One will enjoy a job if he/she is having job satisfaction in the following parameters:
1. Location/Environment of the work spot
2. Treatment meted out to him/her by the employer
3. Inter-personal relationship with superiors, colleagues and subordinates (of course, this will be like changing weather)
4. Scope for promotions
5. Remuneration
6. Scope for his/her contribution to the employed organisation
If all these six points are satisfactory, then that person is the luckiest one. However, most of us may be compromising on one or two things and may pull on until there is a change of situation or we get a job change.

Good question, I was going to ask this.
I am an engineer, I work a machine called a horizontal borer, mainly machining castings, sub contract work. Most of the time I dont even know what they are, just lumps of metal.
I F***ing hate it, but its all I've ever done and it pays the bills.
If i could find a job that I could do and paid the same I'd do it.

I work in operations department, huge workloads, ungodly hours. The pay is good and we get to travel, but a workplace is only as good/ fun as your workmates, and on that count, my job doesn't score too highly. I enjoy the actual work, the work environment not so much.

I'm a support worker, supporting people with learning difficulties.
There are good and not so good points, but on the whole it's an interesting job.
The pay isn't too bad either.
