Probably not. Everyone has to pay their dues to be in this profession and that means starting at the bottom. Besides 1 program isn't anything, 5 years writing code for a project is, and nobody is going to let inexperience work on an OS, or any tool associated with one.

Yes you can find lots of good projects developed in any language need not be in C. But I don't think this is a good idea because you'll never have the experience of developing a software application.

I would suggest learning it by checking out some open source projects available in the internet. You can contribute to the community if you are ready for spending some time for the development. Then you can show that in your resume and an employer will definitely value your project/contribution which is public in nature.

Please don't try to show fake project experience first of all it is unethical. Then even if you get a job based on the fake things you've shown sometimes you'll find it very very difficult with the way things going around you.

The employer will expect more things from an experienced developer compared to a beginner. so you'll have to deliver more things without much experience on your side for the survival.

Even if it take some time develop a project either yourself or with some other persons who are ready for this. You can search for the project ideas for some programming forums like codeproject.

Hope this is going to help you.
