Income Tax in India is a joke! Can we not abolish Income Tax?

It would be so much more beneficial to the country at large if undeclared money was used to generate wealth for the nation. The setting up of industry, creating employment instead of paying vast sums as bribe to IT officers to reduce the tax structure or even maintaining a useless Income Tax Dept.

I agree with u, govt. is into process of online processing of taxes, but as usual its moving slowly. and first of all the curruption system must be stop (just like in the movie Nayak)

tax department harress those who pays there tax, but they don't bother abt them who don't even pay the taxes.

Definitly tax system should be redefine.

this is actually legislation that some republicans are pushing for. the problem with income taxes is that it only affects those that work, or I should say those that work legally. the proposition they want to pass through congress would abolish the income tax and raise sales taxes to 23%. this they figure would increase the amount of government income, and require everyone to pay, not just those that have a legal job

I agree that present system is a joke.
However collecting tax is not a joke. The whole system should be redefined and we all tax payer should get a statement back for what government has done with our hard earned money.

Taxes are unconstitutional. Look it up! I wish they'd have a Boston Gasoline party...but without the devastating pollution that would result. Gas tax="Taxation without representation"
