I was sixteen working in a pizza joint that had a big screen tv. I was taking a pizza out to a table when the news broke. I froze as well did the customers. We just stood there, looking at the tv in disbelief. They didnt even eat their pizza, just got up and left. It was very disturbing.

I was laying in bed looking at the alarm clock when I heard a strange 'PONG.' Couple hours later, my roomie turns on the tv and I discovered what the sound was: Challenger exploding!! I was in Granbury, TX at that time...close enough to Dallas/Ft. Worth to have heard it.
Oh woops! I'm talking about Columbia.

I was at Central Mo. State Univ. for my freshman year in college, watching taped episodes of "Miami Vice" with my friend Scott when our friend Lennie burst through the door screaming about what happened. Lennie was really interested in all things NASA, and so he'd skipped class so he could watch the launch. My first reaction--oddly, I guess--was to feel bad for Lennie, because he'd been so excited about the launch and he was so devastated.

I was at school and found out when I came home and turned on the TV. That was the first time I didn't watch MTV as soon as I walked in.
Yep . . . MTV used to actually have music videos on it! Go figure! ;-D

I was in school, we were watching it on the TV, and then all of the sudden the teachers in the cafeteria where we were watching all started sobbing. They were freaking out. I was only in first grade and I didn't understand why everyone was freaking out. It wasn't until later that I understood what happened.

i was working. my boss came in and told me & my co-woker that the shuttle exploded. my boss was always a jokester. i said to him, your kidding aren't you?? he said no he wasn't. i said can i go to a tv just to make sure you're not joking with us. he said go ahead. he was right!!! i came back to my boss & co-worker with a very sad face on. he said, you see i wasn't kidding this time. we all looked at each other and said different things about the crew especially krista mccauley, the first teacher in space. i cannot imagine going through something like that. then it happened again with columbia. this time i saw it for real on tv and couln't believe that this was happening all over again. i feel very sad for the families of these astronauts & heros.

I was at work. A co-worker told me about it. I then called my wife at home and she said that she had just turned on the TV and saw it.

I was in the eighth grade. The principal took us outside and we had a prayer. That was before prayer in school was such a big deal. Nice question.

I was working in a sticker factory. The boss came out into the shop and told us about it, then told us to get back to work.
