No. you can hire a PI or a process server for less than $50. You can also try your local sheriff's department. They may offer that service in your area. They did in mine when I had to serve some papers to some a$$.

If you have all of their personal info, you can use some of these online companies that will search for all their records and addresses, then serve him yourself. Those searches are usually $19.99 or less. I will put a couple links to them in the sources section, however I've never used one so I don't know how reputable they are...

Interesting answers here. First off, read the email I sent. That will get you started.

For the person who said, "ADDRESS SERVICES REQUESTED" on the letter. Nope, wrong one. That letter will be forwarded and you don't want these people to know you are coming. Use a blank piece of paper in an envelope and use: Return Service Requested. The letter is not forwarded and if there is a new address the PO will have that on the envelope when they return it to you.

Often the above will find them, but if not, don't waste your money on those online scams like Intelius. That outfit in particularly does not verify their information for correctness, even with a Social Security number and most of the information that is correct is old. Waste of time, waste of money.

The law enforcement officer who serves a person normally requires that you provide an accurate address. Skip chasers and private investigators can be very expensive. Use them as a last resort. There are other methods to try first.

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://bitly.im/aOpSE

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

One think you can do is sent a letter to the old address and write "ADDRESS SERVICES REQUESTED" above the address. If they submitted a change of address to the post office, you will get the letter back with the new address.

Many registered process servers have PI licenses too so that can offer skip tracing services. I would hire a PI and ask them for recommendations on how to find the defendant.

Don't need a P.I. Just do some computer research. Google "Skip tracing services" for example. If that person is still within your state, it's a lot easier to obtain a judgment against them. But, the assistance of a lawyer would sure help. Even if you have to give him/her a third of the recovery. I don't know how much $$$ you're talking about here. If it's under $5,000, there's not a lot of efficient lawyers that would take your lawsuit on a contingent fee basis.

If it's a personal loan, go to court and he will have to be in court so they will find him because if you track him down by yourself or hire someone, he could sue for harassment.

If it's a corporate loan, just hire a collection agency.

It probably depends on the laws in your state but, I just saw notices in the classified of the local paper. They started "you are being sued..." It is possible that you can publish the notice in a local paper over a number of days.

you can hire a process server (you can find them in the phone book or call the courts and ask for a list) or get a PI... you'll probably have more luck with the PI
