Me and my frined, (both on separate laptops) were just on the internet using wi-fi, when my buddy turned on the microwave, we lost signal, when it beeped offk, it came back on? coincidence with a hiccup in the internet provider, or normal occurence?

Microwaves, chordless phones, radios, celphones (the latter two to lesser extents) and other objects that emit frequencies similar to those can affect the quality/ strength of a wifi network. Get away from the field and keep both the base and the reciever cards away from the sources of emmissions.

Yes a microwave can cause interference with your wireless signal. it uses the same frequency.

Nope perfectly normal occurrence.

Microwaves emit unregulated radio waves that can interfere with the radio waves your wireless network produces.

yes microwave affect wi fi signal but it also depends on what type of router you use

Yes, the microwave frequency is probably around the same as the 2.4ghz... so that's why that happened.
