i live in west central ohio, but i moved here from o'fallon mo about 2 months ago, and have been a cardinals fan as long as i kin remember. i think the redbirds have the offense to make a serious run in the playoffs, but thier pitching won't cut the mustard. and, before someone asks, the only reason the cards made no pitching aquisitions lately is the fact that any deal they could have made would have had to include adam wainright, a commodity walt jocketty wasn't willing to part with, and with good reason. give dave duncan time to work with weaver, wainright is set to join the starting rotation next year, and add to that the always dependable chris carpenter, we have the core for a solid pitching staff. as as far as anyone making smarta$$ remarks about the birds, there is only one team in baseball who has won more world championships than the saint louis cardinals, and it sure as hell aint the chicago cubs!!!!!! GO CARDS!!!!!

I love the Cardinals. It looks like they are going through a difficult stretch right now. I'm concerned that this year's playoff run could be short. The Mets look too tough for anyone in the National League to handle this year. I think St.Louis makes the playoffs and could win the first series. If Edmonds and Eckstein were both back and playing well and Pujols and Rolen were near their best, well this could be the scary team they are capable of being. Chris Carpenter is having another wonderful year on the mound but doesn't seem to be getting a lot of help from the rest of the pitching staff. If the Cardinals get hot and play like we all know if possible, the sky's the limit.

I don't know a lot about baseball, but my husband was a young boy living in North St. Louis when the St. Louis Browns and the Cardinals shared Sportsman's Park. The Browns went on to become the Baltimore Orioles, and the Cardinals made Sportsman's Park their home. Thanks to August Busch, the old man, not the young one who sold them out, the Cardinals became "a contender" in baseball.

The Cardinals have a "history", and anyone playing for the Cardinals, or "rooting" for the Cardinals is proud of that history. The present owners of the Cardinals have an opportunity to "bring the Cardinals back to glory"; but, only if they are committed to securing current players in the "top echelon" of baseball, and actively recruiting and supporting young talented players and leaders.

Where are the Babe Ruth's, the Ty Cobb's, the Bob Euchers, the Lou Gehrig's, the Bob Gibson's, the Lou Brock's, the Willie McGee's, the Shoeless Joe Jackson's, the Pete Rose's? These were "larger than life" baseball heroes even with their flaws.

I believe Cardinal management needs to "step up to the plate", provide more financial incentives to their players, support their player's families, and enjoy the "game of baseball!"

I live in Virginia, grew up in central Illinois, and have pulled for the St. Louis Cardinals my entire life. In school, I wrote a paper saying the three voices I knew best were my mother, my father, and Harry Caray (yes, he was the voice of the Cardinals for many years). I love the team--they are a class act in baseball and are excellent. Their fans are some of the most knowledgeable as well. Is there a sweeter swing than Albert Pujols' swing? I could watch that alone all day!!!

I'm a big Cardinal fan!! As a Cardinals fan i have to say that our pitching stinks right now!! What the heck happend to Izzy! God, i mean geeze, he rocked last year what about this year!! At least Carpenter is pitching very well, like he always does. Rolen has really stepped it up this year coming off a terrible shoulder injury. Also we have the best hitter in the entire league, Albert Pujols. They also picked up Preston Wilson who has been a great player for th cards! They also picked up Jose Visciano. I have not seen play a whole lot. Ronnie Belliard has also been a fantastic player too. The pitching stinks but defence and offence great!!

I am a Braves fan and I don't think bad about the Cardinals. They are a good team to watch. I really enjoyed the game a few nights ago where there was a walk of grand slam. That is always fun.

usually even as those 2 meet, you could throw the documents and present day streaks out the window. even even with the undeniable fact that the Cardinals have had a miles extra constructive crew this season, they have not performed properly hostile to the Cubs, and it is coming from an excellent Cardinals fan.

Since when did little red birds start playing baseball. In fact I am quite sure the ball weighs more than the bird.

I think their pitching has been weak. They score enough run most games. However on the east coast I dont see them much except against the Mets.
