Read through it first and write down the essence of the story.
Make a list of the main characters and how they relate to each other, who is dominant and who is subservient.
Who is the driving force of the action and who is the victim.
If you keep reading it through and concentrate on one speech at a time, you will begin to understand the language and the sheer genius of Shakespeare
Get yourself a good DVD of the play,

With regards to any Shakespeare, the best way to leran the play and truely understand what the hell he's talking about is to understand the language.

I have read a few of them in the past, ie. Macbeth, Romeo & Juliet, and what made them really god was a teacher who went though it with us "almost" line by line, as we studied what Shakes was saying in each verse.

Basically you need to understand what you are talking about before you can actually play the role or enjoy the book.
Once I really understood what was going on then all of a sudden I actualy enjoyed them.

Another way to get a good feeling of what the heck is going on is to go to local theater and watch the play twice. See if you start understanding more and more.
