answer to question 2 is 1000.
answer to q 1 is-
in a day calories to loose is x
no. of punds to loose- 4 pounds
no. of calories to loose for 1 pound- 3500
total no. of cals to loose- 3500 * 4 = 140000
no. of calories to loose in a day = total calories to loose/no. of days
equation is x=4*3500/14
thus 1000 calories are to be lost In ONE day so as to loose 140000 calories in 14 days.
did i help?

Since a person burns 3500 cals to lose 1 lb of weight, to lose 4 lbs, they must burn 4*3500 calories, or 14,000 calories. However, they're doing this over a period of 2 weeks, or 14 days. So to find the number of calories they need to burn per day, just divide 14,000 by 14. The answer is 1000 calories.

3500calories = 1lb weight

it's a ratio. so do 3500 calories / 1lb = x calories/4lb

cross multiply

3500*4 = x

x= 14,000 calories

this is in two weeks...2 weeks = 14 days.

so, 14,000/14 days = 1,000

tada!! :)

no of calories to be burnt for losing 1 pound=3500
no of calories to be burnt for losing 4 lbs=3500*4(direct variation)
=14000
calories to be burnt in 2 weeks or 14 days=14000 calories
calories to be burnt /day=14000/14=1000 calories
