I went swimming today and my eyes stung super bad for hours afterward. last week I was at the same beach and barely noticed the salt

due to changing pattern of tides,affecting movement of water,thus also salt

Is there a nearby river or souce of fresh water that might swing
by the beach when certain currents are moving ?

when it rained the fresh water dilutes the water so if it rained the day before then it wont be as salty. if not the wind change and tide movement are to blame.
