Does anyone know of any good books of documentaries on the development of metallurgy throughout ancient times? I am particularly interested in whether sources or ore influenced human settlement.

This gets in to metallurgy as it relates to things like Samurai;

The book of the series, The Ascent of Man: A Personal View by J. Bronowski, is an almost word-for-word transcript from the original television episodes, diverging from Bronowski's original narration only where the lack of images might make its meaning unclear.
