I have been drawing, scratching, around on paper as long as I can remember. I have used many other expressive mediums of Art as well. It has been a dream of mine to have my own line of greeting cards that no one else has to offer. I am at the point right now that I am confident in my workings where I believe I am good enough to pull that off. I have several original characters of my own that I believe will work well togather with some carefully composed text to convey Heart felt emotion.

i did a few drawings for a card maker once and considered doing it myself at one point. if you are printing them and marketing them to big shops yourself, then you will need to invest in printing a lot of them because if they say "yes" you need to be prepared. you can also search out independent shops or build a website if you don't have a lot of money to invest to start.
otherwise you can look for publishers to do the printing and distribution for you.

good luck and dream big!

This is a very difficult field. Usually, most card companies already have scads of artists they use on a regular basis, and most of them either draw, or write verse, but not both. Card companies DO NOT WANT TO SEE licensed characters and will turn your work down flat if you approach them with this. You really need to study what is out there and make sure your art is professional. Many companies ONLY want your ideas and will then assign them to another artists. You have no say in that. Again, beware, this is a difficult and frustrating field. And to the person who told you to run around putting your cards in stores, now there is someone who is CLUE LESS beyond belief. Stores do not just allow you to use THEIR racks for YOUR product! They are not that beneficent. They need to know your product is a winner and will sell, andbelieve me, they have enough from the card companies they don't need unknown, unproven work. Good luck.

The first thing would be to market them to all your neighbors.Start going door to door around Halloween, and see if they will sell. You know how to produce them i am guessing,so do a test market. And get some local publicity.Have a article written up about your cards in the local paper.Go around town and put them out at stores and see if they will sell. You can mass produce them at the local printers.Box them up in some kind of fashion, like, wrapping the boxes with wrapping paper that is glued on.and print up a nice little thank you card and a certificate of authenticity, that they are your creation.Do this first, then contact the big dogs. And let them see your track record. If that does not work then GO TO THE NET!!!www.godaddy.com will fix you right up,with your own web-site and domain name, and will host the site and drive traffic to it!!PEACE AND LOVE AND MAY THIS FIND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WELL FOR A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON!!
