spend a few bucks and get a new machine ,p3 and XP dont mix well. It will work But you can go to Tiger direct.com or Newegg.com and get a new system for less that 300.00. I have a Tiger direct store here and got an emachines p4 2 gig for 249.00. I trashed my last p3 a while ago and even if you dont. Get a AMD 64

id download "nlite" you can customize the xp pro cd
add drivers, kill services u dont need. like help.
use msconfig to keep running processes down.
dont use nortons.
anything lite.
