if you do,do some reaserch on the "littlr ice age",it lasted from the 15 to 18 houndreds, and thedidnt have cars or burnt fossil fuels back then, this planet will do what it will do and nothing can stop mother nature from changing her ways....we need to stop all the bullshit and start doing and preparing for the future......anyone disagree?

The degree of ignorance is astounding. And it is true... Ignorance is bliss!!!! These people are so filled with self importance that they actually believe that they can hurt this planet. They give ridiculous statements like CO2 is the cause of global warming. Well actually the biggest % of "Greenhouse gasses" is WATER VAPOR. 98% of all Greenhouse gasses to be more exact. And where does all the water vapor come from??? THE EARTH!!! It's called evaporation. It's what the planet does.
Another thing.... All the idiots that say we are polluting our planet.... Where the hell do you think all the stuff we are "polluting" our planet with comes from? It's not like we are bringing in trash from outer space. It's all from the earth. We just move it from one place to another.
It's still amazes me how little these people will think for themselves. They just keep spilling the same old diatribe that they are feed. It's amazing. Good to see that there are still a few of us out there that can think.

Oh, and I have a ? for you.... How can they say that it is going to be X degrees hotter 100 years from now? When they can't even tell us what the weather is going to be like TOMORROW!! Hell, most of the time they can't get the weather correct TODAY, much less 100 yrs from now.

Yes I do.

See, you're right that global temps go on a cycle, and that we are in a warming part of the cycle. It's pretty much an undisputed fact that the world is naturally heating up.

But it's been proven - PROVEN - that temps have gone up WAY faster since the Industrial Revolution, and they've done that in proportion to the amount of greenhouse gases (like CO2) that humans have put into the air. In other words, the more gases we put in the atmosphere, the faster the temperature increase.

"Global Warming" doesn't refer to the natural climate fluctuation that includes the mini ice age so well documented during the Medieval period. Global Warming refers to the artificial, human-made effects of the Industrial Revolution, which was when we started pumping massive amounts of coal dust, carbon dioxide, methane, etc. into the atmosphere. Since then, humans have drastically changed the climate through CFCs and many other greenhouse gases.

So in short, if cars and trains didn't exist and we were still huddled around campfires with our spears, the climate today would still be warmer than it was a thousand years ago. But it wouldn't be nearly as high as it is, and these extremely powerful storms wouldn't be nearly as severe.

And as for your suggestion that we pay more attention to the future, I'm right with you. We need to study so we can understand what's going on and so we do things that will make it better, but then we have to follow up with effective changes that will make the situation better!

I know this has become a political issue, and up till recently I was skeptical, but after looking at the evidence I do think we are adding significant amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere, and that this is raising the average temperature. The correlation between CO2 levels and average temperature is very well established, and the human addtion to CO2 is adding to the natural variations.

The little ice age and other warm and cold periods did occur before we began adding significant amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere, but these warm and cold periods, due to natural variations, track very well the CO2 levels.

We need to be paying attention to this, and begin thinking creatively about ways to both reduce CO2 emissions, and sequester the CO2 we do need to produce.

Small variations in average temperature (a few degrees F) can lead to large changes in the amount of ice held in reserve on the land, primarily on Greenland and Antarctica. The climate is a nonlinear system, where small changes in temperature can trigger relatively large changes in rainfall, ice burden, and ocean currents.

The problem is not unsolvable, but we do need to pay attention to it and begin to adjust our behavior to minimize CO2 emissions, which may include more nuclear power, solar power (including space based solar power), conservation (including paying attention to light pollution) and carbon sequestration.

We're getting big enough to become a force of nature, and we need to recognize that fact and act with reasoned care to anticipate and counteract any problems that may arise.

Above all, we need to put aside politics and educate ourselves about how the planet's climate system works, on a basic level, and consider solutions without rejecting any without reasoned consideration for doing so.

We my not be able to predict the weather, a local effect, two weeks in advance, but we can build models of the overall climate system that can accurately predict average temperatures. This is similar to what happens in a casino: an individual gambler cannot know whether he will win or lose, but overall, in the long run, individual variations will average out and the house can predict with confidence that it will be profitable.

Climate models can be tested by running the model backwards and seeing if the predicted average global temperatures match the observed record of temperatures and their effects they leave in the geologic and fossil record. But, this doesn't mean anyone can tell you the temperature and weather conditions at a particular place on a particular day long ago. Short term fluctuations are not important; we are concerned with climate change, not weather.

Who in the world say there is only one way to make the globe warmer ?

We are saying the current pollution due to human activity is causing the globe to be warmer sooner and faster than the natural factor. And it is backed by scores and scores of scientists. Not the one that is bribed by the industrial companies.

This is similar to an arguement of saying every man will die, why bother sueing/arrest me if I ran a guy over with a car.

You sound like another one of the Ostriches to me.

It is a well know fact that CO2 is the prevalent cause of the
green house effect causing global warming which is causing
both the North Pole and the South Pole melt down.

The great proliferator of this into our atmosphere is humankind!

Deny the facts all you want. But it will not change the truth.

Hope you have your life boat ready!

:)

Have fun but be safe.

We may be contributing to it, but I doubt we are causing it. Mt Kilimanjaro began melting in the late 19th century, and I don't think there was much pollution then.

You may also not know that the earth itself produces more than double the amount of carbon that humans do (through volcanoes etc).

Yes, we need to start planning for a much hotter and wetter future NOW.

Global warming is pure bullshistica given to us by the wacko environmentalists. These nutjobs want us to live as we did in 1906, not as we do in 2006. Any and all "global warming" comes from the Sun. Al Gore is an idiot. Is there anything we can do about turning the thermostst down on the Sun? I doubt it...

As long as oil comes out of the ground, burns in engines, the particles will destroy our atmosphere, the temps will rise, the ice will melt, the fresh water will dilute the satlt water oceans and the ocean currents will continue to slow to a stop and the blizzard will come. I really think it's a bit late. We're screwed.

A agree completely. I dont think that our cars are helping. Maybe hurting it a bit. But hurting it like a bug bite after stabbing (Ie. Not enough to matter) I think that we should start preparing or ajusting. After all if we dont we will end up just like the dinosoars. Dead.
