No way, they still are terrible on offense, and they still have nothing on D. There are high school football teams that could come close to beating them...not to mention all the college teams with their crazy mixed up offenses. the point here is that they need to take a hard look at what made them successful in the past, and figure out a way to get back to that.

Oh yeah man, Now we are talking my type of language.
Alex Smith will get the job done this year and end up getting the short end of the stick on a pro bowl berth. At the very least, he'll have a passer rating above 82. Which is solid for a second year guy. Maybe I was over the top with the Pro Bowl but I have High Hopes
At Running Back...Frank Gore will run for 1,500 yards 10 TD's and 400 receiving yards. The surprize will be Michael Robinson, the converted QB from Penn State, I hoping he gets some touches and maybe even gets to throw a halfback pass for a TD or something.
The Receiver position is Strong with A. Bryant, Arnez Battle and Brandon Williams...another rookie.
Our rookie TE Vernon Davis will make people bring up the name Brent Jones. Eric Johnson is also pretty good if he can stay healthy
Our O-Line is solid with Larry Allen aboard.
Our D-Line is solid with Bryany Young still doing his thing. Another rookie named Parys Haralson from Tennessee has impressed.
The Linebackers will get pressure on the QB with our other top draft pick Manny Lawson who has frekish speed and size.
The DB's may struggle but Sammy Davis will be great and Shawntae Spencer could be one of the best cover corner in the NFC.

Not really, Alex Smith is not looking like a #1 should look. The draft is such a crapshoot where it's impossible to project college players into the NFL. I've heard that Vernon Davis isn't getting the offense like they thought... Frank Gore still has 2 bum knees. i can't name a go-to receiver on that team. i heard that they signed larry allen from the cowgirls... isn't he like 42 years old? i swear he's played for the cowgirls since the eighties... they let go of their best defensive player (julian peterson)... too many questions on bost sides of the ball... time to bring in bill walsh again!

Oh God no. They're still the most untalented team in the league, sorry. Before you get mad that I said that, consider that I'm a huge 49ers fan. I wish it weren't so, but the Niners will stink for at least another two years.

You might as well ask if Joe Montana is coming out of retirement this year! Only way the 49ers could do ANYTHING would be to pull Montana or Young back out onto the field!

Coming from a Rams fan who hates the Forty Whiners, I seriously beleive they will suck. Start following the college game to see who you are going to draft with the number one pick next year.
