According to the CIA World Factbook there were approximately 6,525,170,264 in July 2006. Also according to the World Factbook the population growth rate is 1.14% per year, or .095% per month. This would make the world population 6,531,369,176 as of August 2006. This means 1/3 of the world population would be 2,177,123,059 as of August 2006.
