I have worked as an admin assistant in a high school for two years, and while most teachers are nice, some think that they are too good to associate with anyone that is not a teacher, and are really rude and abrupt. Does anyone else find it the same as me?

If so, does it get to you sometimes?

I have worked as a supervisor in a classroom where kids in trouble spend the school day. Over the seven years I've held this job, I have encountered some teachers who feel as if they are somehow superior. For the most part, 'tho, I've had fine relationships, good rapport and lots of help from many. But I certainly know what you mean. Yes, it does get to me. When I encounter this situation, 'tho, I try to laugh it off. The way I see it, we are all interested in the kids (or should be) and I try not to clutter up my mind w/worrying about people I don't have to deal with on a regular basis.

The difference comes in that some teachers beleive their degree affords them a higher place in the building then non-degreed personell such as admin asst and other staff.

While factual knowledge may be found in a classroom, apparently social knowledge escaped them. I have been a substitute teacher and am also the son of a teacher so having grown up in a school I found equal respect for all levels of the staff regardless of degree.
