I LIVE IN LOWER MANHATTAN. I LIVE THROUGH THE WHOLE ORDEAL. I HAD THE DAY OFF AND I WAS DROPPING MY DAUGHTER OFF IN SCHOOL. I WALKED OUT AND TURNED THE CORNER AND HEARD THE ENGINES SCREAMING THE I HEARD THE BOOM. I LOOKED UP AND SAW THE FIRE BALL RUNNING UP THE SIDE OF THE WORLD TRADE NORTH TOWER. I THOUGHT THAT TERRORIST LOADED A SMALL AIRCRAFT WITH DYNAMITE OR SOMETHING AND CRASHED IT TO THE TOWERS. I RAN BACK TO THE SCHOOL AND GOT MY DAUGHTER OUT. WE LIVE ABOUT 8 1/2 CITY BLOCKS FROM THE TOWERS. WE RAN HOME IN TIME TO WATCH THE SECOND PLANE HIT ON THE NEWS. I THEN WAS SURE THAT WE WERE UNDER A TERROR ATTACK.
I LEFT MY DAUGHTER AT HOME WITH MY DAD AND WENT OUT TO TRY TO HELP BUT THEIR WAS NOTHING ANYONE COULD DO. THE FIRE DEPT. AND POLICE DEPT. HAD THE WHOLE AREA SHUT DOWN. I RAN BACK TO MY HOME AND TOLD MY DAD TO GET READY TO LEAVE IF THINGS GOT WORSE. WE WERE NEVER EVACUATED AND IT WAS A GOOD THING THAT WE LIVED UP WIND, WE DID NOT GET TOO MUCH OF THE SMOKE. WHEN THE TOWERS COLLAPSED WE DID GET DUST ALL OVER OUR WINDOWS BUT THEY WERE SEALED SHUT SO NOTHING CAME INTO MY APARTMENT. THE SMELL OF BURNING ELECTRICAL WIRES LASTED FOR A MONTH OR SO BUT WE WERE GIVEN AIR PURIFIERS BY FEMA AND THEY HAD HAZMAT TEAMS CLEAN THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE OF THE APARTMENTS. IT WAS A CRAZY THING. THE ONLY THOUGHT I HAD WAS REVENGE. I WANTED WHO EVER WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS TO PAY WITH BLOOD. IT FELT AS IF YOUR BROTHER WAS JUST SHOT IN THE CHEST AND ALL YOU COULD DO WAS WATCH. IT WAS A HELPLESS FEELING. THE MOST OUTSTANDING THOUGHT IN MY MIND WAS REVENGE.
WHEN BUSH MADE HIS SPEECH ON TOP OF THE PILE OF RUBBLE, AND HE SAID THAT THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE WOULD SOON HEAR US ALL. THAT WAS WHAT AT THE TIME I WANTED TO HEAR. I WANTED REVENGE.

I was laying in bed talking to one of my friends on the phone and she said dude, we're under attack! and I went to the living room to turn on the news and saw the second plane hit. I was in awe and shock and though holy ****! we're at war. I am 23 now and had been 18 for less then a month, and I never thought I would see war in my life time. And i knew then life for everybody would change. And it's still changing because of it, whether people realize it or not.

A year later, my best friend, and now husband started boot camp at parris island and right after he graduated, the shock and awe campaine started to find hussain. And I was so scarred for him and every other person in the millitary who risks their lives for our own. I am not a religious person, but i do "speak" to any higher being that's listening at the time and ask for their safety and their quick return home.

I was in my 7th grade geography class and I was mad because the event had cancelled basketball practice after school that day so I went home and went to dance class. Yep.
The thing that struck me most about it was, a week later or so, one of my friends told me that it had happened again, that another plane hit another tower somewhere. But she lied to get attention or whatnot. That's when I learned not to take what others say too seriously unless you know for sure yourself, one way or the other.

I was getting my kids ready for school. My husband called and told me to turn on the news. Just as I turned it on I saw the second plane hit. I was in shock, I fell to my knees and began to pray. I was very scared, didn't know what would happen next. I will NEVER forget that day!

I heard it on Bob and Sherry. I thought it was some sort of not-funny-spoof. I went and got my mom and she didn't believe me. My Grandpa worked in the pentagon so it was a pretty traumatic day. I spent the day glued to the TV with the rest of America. Its funny about this post. I just got back from watching the Cage WTC movie. It was very emotional, but good.

I was up and readying for a truck driving job, early. The news was just reporting and showing the first building AFTER being hit. The next plane hits it LIVE on the news.
My first impression was, "Damn, that air traffic controller REALLY screwed up bad!" Hows that for gullible!

I was in a hill tribe village in Thailand. My first thought was that the American government had attacked its own citizens. The words 'They did it themselves' flashed into my mind. Now, 5 years later, after much evidence has been examined by independent experts, we know that was true.

I was celebrating my birthday then. My birthday is Sept 9 but I celebrated it on the 11th. We were eating while watching television then we suddenly saw the building collapsed... It's very painful to see people dying inside the building

i remember. i was in the 6th grade. living in california. i walked downstairs and my dad was reading the paper, i asked him what was wrong and he started talking about some tradgedy. i didn't understand, so i ignored it. i got to school, and in homeroom we talked about it. i still didn't understand. as the months went by i grew up and i realized what had happened. i saved newspapers, and i remember on the day that bush declared war on afganistan, i wrote on my calender "the beginning of world war 3, God save us..." i remember looking at the clock during 6th period and knowing bush was then declaring war on them. i was so sad. and afraid. it's so devastating.
