Because people listen too much to what society wants them to believe. Since everyone is conforming to what the world wants them to hear, there is a low risk of rejection and embarrassment from their peers around them in being ignorant. People are not willing to step up for what is right and make a difference to society these days.

Ignorance appears to be proportional to the education they receive.. This particular quality has been reducing at an alarming rate over the past 30 some years... This years SAT tests revealed the lowest percentage in 30 years... The dumbing down process has occured.. and effectively accomplished. If you had public education, this includes you also.+

We are all products of our upbringing/environment. The more we are able to think for ourselves, weigh our opinions, and take a real interest in what's going on in other peoples' lives and around the world (in other words, not be sheep or ostriches), then perhaps ignorance will lessen. While ignorance is annoying, it's difficult to fight on a grand scale. Just try to combat it one fool at a time!!

I don't know. People don't seem to understand that. Anyone who likes standing out is stupid, or weird. Me and my friends try as hard as we can to stand out all of the time. And the rest of the school all tries to be like the popular size 0 preps. No offense to peeps who wear 0's and stuff. But my school classifies you on what your waistline is and how expensive your clothes you wear. It's like a crime if you don't shop at American Eagle. And if you don't you will never be known in my school. So instead of trying to be a size 0 and spending all of our parents money at American Eagle where we can get the same thing at Wal-Mart for half the price and good will for a fourth we just decided to be ourselves. That is why me and my friends stand out so much.

I'm really sick of it too. the problem is that we as a society have become so involved in our everyday lives that we don't have the time for anyone else to slow us down. I really wish that people could adapt, but it's harder for some than it is others I guess.

What matters, my dear, is not how other people are, but how YOU are. If you are at peace, you will see only peace, or the possiblities of peace. After all, your peace is the most important contribution you can make towards the elimination of the negativity you mentioned... being part of the solution, not the problem. Best wishes.

Because, that's just the way they are, they choose not to see what's really around them.Atleast ignorance can be fixed. Like my dad told me "Ignorance can be cured but, stupid is to the bone". So, instead o complaing about the ignorance do something about it.

The world goes round because of inertia, the prime mover, gravity and the like. All people like others like themselves. Racism is not confined to any one race, but is shared by all. Why don't you grow up?

Well, it's called brainwashing.
That and too much tv.
Do not shop at Wal Mart.
Think for yourself.
Get in touch with nature, yes, go outside.
Get off the computer.
Talk to someone, face to face.
Any of this........all of it.
Peace.
