think of the metaphoric symbol.... love and crocodile... what do both have in common... they bite, right? now, the river of desire, presumably toiling with man's wants... therefore love becomes something that bites a man wanting? LOL....

seriously, love becomes the danger in our wants. oftenly, love swings a man out of what he wants... what he desires. love steers, and commands the plains, paves the way of what we pursue. don't we often fall prey to it, and most of us, once under love's spell, never listens to reason nor logic? thereby, instead of us leading a straight pattern, we often veered towards curves or some may say, a wrong turn... it drives us out of line, out of what our usual routine... once you're married, you most oftenly steps back at the joys of night-outs... you'd rather have more time spent with your love ones rather than enjoy the evening. you'd rather stay with your mate than go out with your friends. you sacrifice your time at the office and rather stay home... that's what it really means...

It should be the other way round: "Desire is the crocodile on the river of Love". Why? Love is of many kinds. Can you say that the love for your children is a crocodile on the river of desire? That would be just wrong. Desire is something else. Desire is dangerous (love isn't, in spite of what some people said here). Desire Will bite and then go into a death roll. Once Desire consumes the victim, it will go to sleep... Think about it, really. By the way, who said that? You?

Love is the crocodile on the river of desire means-one is happily living with the chosen mate of a lifetime, but the partner is out nightly unfaithfully seeking the love of another or others.
Sometimes what we think is love is really masked as something else.

Love is likened to a crocodile that can devour you if you’re not careful with the matters of the heart...

You know it is dangerous, but you just can't help to stay away -- without water one would just die of thirst. With luck you might just hunt down of them and get yourself some shoes, boots, belts, handbags, coats... etc. :)

You'll know when you truly are in love because it will consume you.
