Hidalgo is "based" on a true story supposedly. If you watched the show on the History Channel, you would have seen that the true story could not have possibly been true. There was never a race
that went on for over a thousand years. No scholars from the region
have found any facts to back up that part of the story. Also, the timeline could not have happened like the author said.

i saw a thing on PBS about it. n it was pretty much saying that they cant prove that it was true or not. but they did prove that he never worked at buffalo bills show because he kept his records really well. but they said that they couldnt prove if he was telling the truth or not so they just said it was based on a true story because he (the person who wrote it) said it was

Inspired in a true story... like TITANIC...they had to make adjustments and create trama for keeping it interesting! and entertaining
