Why do you HAVE to foot his bill? If y'all are just friends and just hanging out as friends, he needs to pay his own way. If he isn't working and can't afford to go out, then he needs to stay his a*s*s at home until he has a job and can pay for himself. That's the benefit of working...extracurricular activities!!!

You did not say whether he lives with you., or are you speaking about when you go out together?
If he is living with you,,
don't be too generous, because you will be broke and resent him,
If it is going out, for a drink, or club.... then tell him.. hey i know u are not working, so this is costing me, and once in a while, no problem, but regularly, it is getting old,
OR TELL HIM.. YOU CAN'T AFFORD HIM AND YOU, TOO, AND HURRY UP AND GET A JOB,, until then, hes gotta stay home, and you have to find paying pals to go out with,,
good luck

Definitely tell him if it looks like he's not trying very hard to get a job. If he really is trying, then instead of saying it annoys you, just let him know that you're sorry but you can't keep on doing this forever. He'll understand if he's a good guy, and if he's not, then get rid of him.

It's best to tell him now before you freak out on him. I had a moocher friend staying with me until I got so fed up that I put all her stuff into garbage bags & out the door and screamed at her that her free ride has come to an end! We no longer speak.

It seem's to me that this is'nt the first time your friend has done this to you. If it's is then shame on you, you should have picked up on it the first time. It could be he took advantage of your generosity, you probably felt bad at those times, thereby giving in to footing the bill
You have the right..... not to remain silent!
