Sidereal or Tropical astrology?
If both systems are valid astrological systems, then what side of myself is my Vedic chart showing me, and what side is the Tropical chart showing? My tropical chart indicates certain characteristics that seem to fit, but so does the vedic chart.

The system of calculation as per sidereal is the best. The difference between the western and vedic astrology is that one is changing zodiac and vedic is fixed one.
In the present time, deduct 23degrees 54 min. to the long. got in sidereal time to get vedic calculations.

Both are equally valid, just different and based on different principles.
Tropical astrology gives the position of the planets by sign and Sidereal astrology gives the position by constellation.
I suggest trying both to see which system that you prefer.
