This vehicle is blocking my address, blocking where I have to place my trash containers for pickup. It has been parked in the same place for 5 days now, right at the edge of my driveway.

I live in Fontana of San Bernardino County. This vehicle is blocking my address, blocking my space where I have to place my trash containers for pick up and is parked at the edge of my driveway. It has been parked in front of my home for 5 days now.

Once it is marked by police the person has 48-72 hours to move it 30 feet or more before it is towed.

In my city, you must have your car moved every 24 hours. However, the Police don't regularly patrol my neighborhood, so I would have to call them to have the car marked, ticketed and then towed. This may take some time for you to get it removed because the Police more than likely won't ticket or tow on the first visit to your house unless you have an ordinance about having to park XXX number of feet from the edge of a driveway. They will cruise by and take followup action every 24 hours or so and take the next step as they see fit. My suggestion to you would be to contact your local authorities and check the laws regarding this issue. If you know who owns the vehicle, I would first approach them and ask them to move it. (Only if you feel safe doing so.) Good luck. Rick

It depends of course on the law or ordinance if you're in town for your address. Call whichever law enforcement covers your area, local, county or state police, and report that it has been there for 5 days. They can tell you if can have it towed. Be aware that some towing services will try to convince you that you have to pay for the tow. In most cases that isn't true, and the owner of the vehicle will be responsible for removal. If it's a public street, perhaps the police will order it towed. But start with your local law enforcement.

some cities have a 24 hour period some have 48 and some have 72 hours and if is blocking your driveway or blocking view of traffic and the owner can not be located, you may be able to have it towed any time, but you will have to make a police report to have it done

Here, if it is blocking your driveway, the same day. Call your local police station, not only can they tell you the law for your area, they will have it towed as an abandoned vehicle.

Call the cops. 5 days is too long. The car could be abandoned, but you don't have to put up with it sitting in front of your house. Call the cops.

Check with your local police or sherriff's department. Each city/county has their own ordinances for stuff like that.
