There are a lot of people obsessed over what party people belong to because it's easier to hate an entire party than to actually have to deal with each individual.
And by focusing attacks on the party, and holding out the most radical non-representative elements as examples, it allows them to distract from the issues and never have to address them at all.
I think political parties are the single biggest mistake that this country has ever made in the political arena.

It all boils down ultimately to money and power. The outs want in and the ins want to stay in. In the last few years the democrat party has been taken over by the far left wing marxist nutfudges who will evidently do and say anything to try & get back into power. With the media divided into Fox and the left leaning rest of the pack the struggle for control has reach an unprecedented level. I doubt that America was this divided even during the civil war.

Each presidental canidate will develope a party agenda, or the party will elect a presidental canidate who will promote the party agenda. It is the issues that do matter, but also it is how we match our personal beliefs into polical affiliations that best promotes those personal beliefs. Not everyone is a Republican or Democrat. There is also the Green Party, the Communist Party, the Libertarian Party, etc., and even "Independents" with no party affiliation.
It is also getting close to an election year, when we get a new president.

You must be talking about the Americans.
I agree with you 100%. It seems that when a idea is brought up they want to know first if it was a Democrat or Republican who had said idea, THEN they will decide if they get behind it.
It is a pretty sad situation. It's divided their country like I've never seen before.

I agree with coragryph...it takes a lot less energy to spew hatred and ignorance than it does to become knowlegable about an issue. And anyone who just "toes the Party line" is not an independant or critical thinker in any way, shape or form.

because this is what you call freedom of speech!! without it we would be insane.just remember the constitution was written for a reason.so people like you couldn't control what we think, feel or say!!!!!get with the program....would you like a person that just because of his lineage be the king, president or prime minister?without that document {constitution} we could have a leader that is a complete idiot and not be able to do a damn thing about it.not even talk about it without either being shot, beheaded or imprisoned for the rest of your life.

people can't often speak for themeselves, so by showing affiliation with a paprty, they have more courage to state what they want.

Oh, but you'll be accused of being a "commie liberal" for even suggesting such a thing. Here, often wisdom is despised, and enlightened, circumspect ideas are disparaged. Remember that many of your conversants are children, and we're slowly (VERY SLOWLY) contributing to their education. Just because you can't see them does not mean they aren't very, very young. The youthful are often also struggling with fear, which is the emotional basis of conservative ideation.
